'..there is a growing anxiety that there might not be any point to it [art] because its meanings are to available and also too available elsewhere, in ads, rock videos, crappy moronic blockbuster films, on the internet and so forth. As art draws ever closer to maximum immediate impact it becomes less valued. Films and ads are better because at least you know where you are with them. In hell, probably....'
